Bloody Coat

  • Early Prototype

Life moves on, no matter how hard things get. No matter how frightning the abyss. Time carries on; not for everyone, but for most people.

"BloodyCoat" is the codename of the new project currently in development by Scenario World. It's a detective game that takes place in a future that's not quite despotic or dystopic, but just empty. Cybernetics were perfected, but weren't profitable enough to support. Universal Basic Income was delivered, but infrastructure and public programs continue to decline. Society is deteriorating but no one can imagine it going any other way. Foreign powers rise as the American star falls, and people wonder if these new players will do to them what they so long did to the rest of the world.

Project Aims

  • To create a mystery game where the mechanics actually involve solving a mystery and not just clicking along,
  • To imagine a world that has not moved so much forwards or backwards but sideways,
  • To tell a personal story about a woman who can't find her place,
  • To deliver small, self-contained mysteries while building up to a larger release

Current Status

We are currently developing experimental prototypes built around small mysteries we've devised. They're being released to a small, limited audience for feedback.

That is to say, we are very, very early in development.

Elizabeth Boldan

You play as Elizabeth Boldan: former sex worker, now private detective with cybernetic implants. She has just moved from Toronto to Vancouver, leaving all of her old friends and contacts behind. Once she found a great deal of meaning in what she did, or at least those she did it with. She avoids the corporate work, which pays but is as souless in its activity as in its aims. All that leaves are the personal: matters of family, love, and heartbreak.

Current Influences

  • Her Story
  • Return of the Obra Dinn
  • Phoenix Wright
  • (More recently) Disco Elysium
